Avoid this book. I was assigned this in my English class this year so I was pretty much forced to read this. This book is terrible, and the author, Fitzgerald, over complicates passages with unnecessary words in attempt to make it "deep". People who like the book will call this "immense detail", but it really just makes the book harder to read. I wonder if Fitzgerald has ever heard the saying "Less is more".
When the book doesn't drone on over complex passages, We get to learn about Gatsby, who is simply a loser. Gatsby gets this image in his head that because Daisy used to like him, she still does, even though she is married. Spoiler alert Gatsby tells Daisy that he'll take the blame of the death of Wilson which just shows how much of a bum he is. While there were a couple "readable" chapters, the amount of excessive chatter doesn't make up for it. If you have free time and you are deciding what to do, I recommend you don't touch this book.
