I loved the original, so I was hesitant to give 4-stars. But this version is very creative in the sense that it makes this show diverse. Thomas Magnum is played by an actor of color, and Higgins is a woman. In addition, the bar where the primary characters hang out is not a selective, private club as in the original. Instead, it is a local small business, owned by Rick and T.C. The estate where Thomas and Higgins live used to be owned by the fictional, famous writer Robin Masters, but is now owned by Higgins; bequeathed to her by Robin as a means for her to remain in the U.S. legally since she is now a business and property owner.
