No idea why Rotten Tomatoes rated this so highly. First, the portrayal of women in this movie was completely bizarre and one-dimensional. Their only function seemed to be to cry or yearn for the film's main character. Second, I am a horror fan and never shy away from movies with violence and gore, but the disturbing scenes in this film seemed to have no meaning besides playing out the illicit fantasies of men. Third, the writing and plot just lacked energy and depth. I kept waiting for some twist -- like Isabella Rossellini being the real villain in disguise -- but the film ended just as flat as it began.

I was engaged from the very first episode! Though superheroes are nothing new, how the show creator and actors used the premise of superpowers to explore the lives of everyday Black people was phenomenal. Love this show, and I'm so excited for season 2.

I honestly enjoyed this as a sequel. I, like many audience members, was not expecting a musical, but I don't believe the musical components overwhelmed the larger story. It was also an in-depth portrayal of how others' narratives can overpower your own identity and sense of self. 4 stars instead of 5 because it was a bit too slow-paced for me.
