Pay no mind to the people who didn't understand the underlying messages throughout the show, or didn't bother watching past episode one.
The show is a faithful adaptation of the comic book series. Yes, there are LGBTQ characters in every single episode, and they've been there since the series came out in the 80s. There are dark themes, absolutely, and I would not recommend the show to anyone who is squeamish about blood or violence.
However, if you want something different, something outside of your standard point A to B 'the hero wins and saves the day' fantasy, look no further. The cast is fantastic, the soundtrack phenomenal, and if you care to pay attention there are some very lovely messages and thoughts sprinkled throughout.
