My copy of this fascinating book is a second-hand First edition from 1973.
But even though it will not, obviously, cover the narrative of the Six Counties at the later end of the Twentieth Century, over and above that it is a quite brilliant reference book as it covers in detail all of teh relevant perspectives of the country's marvellous and captivating history.
The inclusion of the maps - which justifies the term atlas - sets it above a mere history book, because these lends clarity and authority to the comprehensive text. This is a 'must have' for anyone looking to delve into Ireland's extraordinary past, a colourful and well written and informative account. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
