Initially I was unsure about this series. It took a few episodes to get into it. The action takes place mostly in the forest which in itself plays a leading role. The filming is dark and moody. Wisps of mist create a supernatural atmosphere. The lead character Laurene Weiss a police captain in a tiny rural setting, is driven by her past. An initiation rite when 18 turned into her living nightmare. In her hunt to find the perpetrator who caused her to cut off her own fingers to escape captivity. Her sidekick gay Martial nicknamed Balloo for his likeness to the bear in Jungle Book, steadfastly supports Laurene in her endeavors. In the plot the perverse local bigwigs are running an illegal dump site for toxic waste and being harried by eco warriors, things get rough. The forest is the supernatural being in all this. Folliwing her captive experience Laurene has become in tune with the forest and its denizens. On occasions she is helped by a wolf and a stag There is also the hunt for a Celtic treasure and sanctuary plundered by Roman centurions and the mysterious being that roams the forest. If you watched Stranger Things then this has a similar feel
