I think it is by far the most interesting of all her novels. Couldn’t put it down once I got started. I was in Italy on holidays when I started reading it and by coincidence was staying in Salo at the Hotel Savoy Palace and the house next door had been leased by Karl Wolf head of the SS in Italy during the Second World War. He featured in this novel many times This town has so much history.
