“The 11th Hour” is frequently the most insightful show of the day, being a concise wrap-up with background from stories of some of the best reporters and commentators. Unlike the hosts of MSNBC’s primetime shows whose partisanship is apparent (though nothing like that of the Fox News hacks), Williams conducts his show like a throwback to the broadcast-network era. Which, ironically, feels progressive by comparison. If relegating Williams to cable was to be his punishment for committing an embellishment gaffe on air in his previous NBC nightly news’ incarnation, he has made the most of it, turning the proverbial lemons into a gourmet-type lemonade. Kudos to him and his producers from this grateful viewer, whose level of sanity on a daily basis is directly tied to the honest intelligence of “The 11th Hour.”
