On face value, it’s gory and stupid. On another, what goes on here actually happens often on even more micro and broader levels. Between humans escalating petty grievances to injury or even murder. And in politics as we’ve seen it and continue to see every day. Etc. Etc. My wife hated it. For her it made no sense. Why would Patric stay on that island? Leave! But for me he could not. Too much invested. Too attached. He could not walk away. The acting is brilliant. All around. If you’re going for pure entertainment …pass. But it reflects the the darker sides of the human condition on a very intimate and profound level. A film you might think about for days. Like Macbeth….not for everyone.
