I enjoyed watching this movie and loved Suzu’s character development throughout the plot. I wonder if it was a good movie. Imagine watching it without the vocals ofBelle, would it be the same? I went emotional at some parts, but does that make it a good movie? I believe if it was published before 2021, it would be meaning less. People have grown attached to isolation and solitude especially after the pandemic, so that people can easily relate to Suzu. However, this movie is not as timeless as the other Ghibli movies. I cannot stop comparing both though they belong to different studios. But honestly, why does it have to follow the footsteps of typical Disney movies with the main character’s appearance in U and the background music? I got really confused seeing some characters from Summer Wars also here. It was rushed somehow and it occurred to me that the narrator wanted to share a theme or message rather than narrating a story. The two good parts about it were the song A Million Miles Away and the vocals. I the song was the most emotional and honest love song written so far… I have memorized it by heart. I have also loved the vocals because they were spontaneous and real just like Ghibli’s classics. I recommend this movie nonetheless.
