Really more of a children's adaptation of the story. I guess I wasn't prepared for the significant departures from the story and historical reality of the time and place it is set in. The anthropomorphic cartoon version of Buck fell into the Uncanny Valley for me, and made watching the film difficult. The sequences where the sled team is running together are fun, in a 'Polar Express' sort of fantasy way. But, it is what it is! A children's adaptation of a classic story by Disney. Not historically accurate, or true to the novella, but may be entertaining for those unfamiliar with the story and looking for a "feel good family flick".
