This movie fails at every level of filmmaking. Bad editing, CGI, story, plot and dialogue. It's really hard to parse out just all the ways this film falls apart. Indy is completely out of character for the movie. They seemed to have forgotten what happens in the previous films as there are continuity and character problems there as well. Helena Shaw seems to be some mishmash of 8 different characters with no actual personality of her own and has no arc to go on. She's just there and acts more like she's catering to the audience rather than an actual character in this movie. She does not react or show any sort of emotion to any dire situations they are in, just jokes it off. Hard to tell if the actress is that bad, or its the director. Indy has nothing to offer to the film, he's also just there for some convenience. The villain is also an unremarkable idiot despite how good an actor they have for him. Their time travel mechanics break as soon as they are shown. It would be nice if there was an arduous test you'd have to take as a company before being able to redive into a beloved franchise. I'm not sure what happened and how they have found such terrible writers for these franchise movies, but Indiana Jones now joins Star Wars, Star Trek, Jurassic Park, Marvel, DC, and Lord of the Rings in creating poorly written stories for an audience that doesn't exist. They now rely entirely on nostalgic key jangling mixed with whatever vacuous modern day nonsense to create a movie. Mix in poorly done, or more likely rushed, CGI to fill in the gaps. At least, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull can now claim to be better than another Indy film. Ugh... that's all
