Ok so I am a massive RPG fan. One of my favourite games developer is Bethesda and almost anything they associate with.
So for me it's going to be hard for a developer like avalanche to top.
That being said the hype was massive and expectations high.
The detail and graphics of this game are 2nd to none.
Extremely easy to control to the point where my 5 yr old daughter has created a character and can traverse with ease.
Me and the missus have put about 50 hours combined into the game so far.
The only gripes are that the side quests (although varied) can be very quick and almost unimaginative at times.
The concept of every collectable being cosmetic is tedious (I mean how about a new broom, wand or variation on a spell from time to time)
A plus is that you do not have to find every type of collectable to fulfill quests so there is actually more than say the demiguises than needed and this is the same for most things. So it doesnt matter if you miss some to compete quests.
The combat can seem a little samey after a while but is varied enough and the broom/flight is easy to control and fun.
The story itself is very good and I feel that the real value to this game will be in exploration and a focus on side quests whilst doing the main ones.
Also worth trying different houses as some quests are slightly different for each giving some nice replayability and variation.
All told it's a solid 8 out of 10 as it's not perfect but will immerse anyone that plays it.
