I watched film "Faith Under Fire" (featuring Kevin Sorbo and Dean Cain) on DVD today. I know my filmatography oriented son Jon often isn't fond of such Christian films. I will admit the acting, writing, and filming did seem a bit weak. AND for about the first 20 minutes I had kind of a hard following the story and getting into it.
HOWEVER,
I ended up really liking the movie and being quite moved by the story! The them of the film is essentially "When Bad Things Happen to Good People". As a pastor, I found that to be the toughest part of ministry. I believe in miracles. I've seen miracles happen and have experienced powerful and positive answers to prayer. BUT then there are the children who die, the wonderful people who are killed in accidents, and the magnificent people who die of cancer even though hundreds were praying. THIS film deals with that kind of stuff. NO, it doesn't offer a lot of simple solutions or easy answers. Yet I found it comforting, inspirational, and meaningful.
You'd have to see it!
I hope some of you will.
Stick with it through the first 20 minutes. It gets a LOT better!
