At first I had so much trouble following the story that I thought I must have fallen asleep listening, however once I understood what Patchett was creating, I settled down. I loved this book. Like Frannie, my father saw another woman and our family broke apart. This book traces the effect of the fallout on the children across 50 years, including one mother who sort Of drops out. . The character sketches of each offspring were brilliantly created as each searched for their own meaning. 5 stars.

I so enjoyed this hilarious satire! Juni our protagonist, and she was just never wants to give up. I loved every minute of it and am surprised that it has only 3 and 4 stars . It’s fresh and quirks it’s a delight to read something very different from the usual. 5 stars.

I was intrigued by the power of that mansion as it symbolized for Danny and Maeve the good years when they were a family. I understood that it was a modern fairy tale a la a Cinderella meets Hansel and Gretal. I loved it! I enjoyed the portrait of the narcissist while acting caring was really sucking off the gratefulness of the helpless, to tge expense of her own. I won’t give away the ending... But two evil mothers in different guises. Brilliant!
