Let’s keep things simple here. Wonder Woman was a great super hero action movie. Wonder Woman 1984 isn’t. Gal Gadot is superb in the role but in WW84 she is given so little to work with. The villains arn’t evil, they are portrayed as insecure and fragile people who have taken a wrong turn. This is escapism, entertainment, or its supposed to be. This is fantasy fiction, I don’t want to identify with the villains motivations and hope they can overcome their demons with a little help from the good guys and gals of the world. I simply want to hate them so when they come crashing down I can revel in their destruction. Simplistic? Yes! What’s wrong with that if you want escapism. If I want deep and meaningful I’ll watch something real life. This is comic book stuff, keep it that way and stop making poor god awful movies like this. Hugely disappointed, often bored, lost interest and just down right stupid.
