Sure the visuals were nice but I walked into that movie thinking I’d get a more authentic version of a movie that I felt connected to as a child. But instead they turned Alladin - the Disney version of a story told long ago based in BAGHDAD, to an Indian movie. Yet they left parts of it in where it was meant to be Arab. Like the writing and the words, it was Arabic. But the dancing, the culture, the people. We’re not. They had it almost there but I was so deeply disappointed that the one movie I felt connected to was turned into an even bigger cliche. And not only that, it convinces the naive into thinking that Indians and Arabs are the same. I cannot believe the same company that released Coco - a wonderful movie about mexican tradition and heritage, couldn’t do the same for arab culture.
