LeBron’s acting started off iffy. Almost everything he says at the start of the film sounded like motivational speaker one-liners. As the film progressed, it seemed like his acting skills did as well and by the end of it, I was decently content with his performance.
I love watching the Looney Tunes become 3-Dimensional. The animation of their hair was beautiful and the cinematography overall of the film was so clear and pristine. GFX were outstanding and I could tell they spent a lot time, effort and money into ensuring they were top tier.
Don Cheadle as a villain was very entertaining. He wasn’t super evil like a Joker, it was more of a cocky Steve Jobs type character. Zendaya as Lola Bunny sounded off in the clip that was circulating Twitter but while watching this she sounded fine. Barely noticeable as the film went on. This also gave me “Spy Kids 3: Game Over” vibes with both synopses centering around being trapped in a game and having to win it to get out / save a loved one.
Action aside, the brief heartfelt moments throughout the film where LeBron learns a lesson were beautiful, despite the almost cliché underlying message of allowing your kids to be what they want to be. LeBron’s son’s acting was nice too and I can definitely see him being in many roles in the future.
The Warner Bros. Multiverse was my favorite part of the film. Seeing all the characters from across different films and shows either cameo or make up the audience watching everything go down was so cool. The appearances from actual (W)NBA players as well was also nice to see and gave this a stamp of authenticity if LeBron hadn’t done that already. We saw this in Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph too and I’ll always love the idea of multiple forms of entertainment coming together to make something special.
In comparison to the first film, I can’t really say if it’s better or worse but I do think this was very watchable and I can definitely see myself watching and enjoying it again one day.
