For me who saw the 1968 version of this movie it was a thrilling experience in that I felt every bit of the evil brewing in their new Minnie and her husband and the fake smiles as if everything is ok and above board which to them it was alright so long as Terry did not catch on or object. You also had the Dakota which was the signature of the original because of the cult that made such a suspenseful and overpowering haven for this secret yet unabashed coven of a society. Everyone looks so harmless yet are so filled with a belligerent type of evil that they are always completely happy and overjoyed just like in the 1968 version. i see both version as wonderfully done and the story is really the same. i spotted the Rosemary's Baby story as soon as I saw the old couple with their obtuse and sinister smiles just waiting to do their handiwork on the so unsuspecting Terry just like Mia Farrow and John Cassavetes. I must however add that the ending took me aback wherein the 1968 version was serene yet pensive and demure in the physical presentation of the cult group members happiness at the outcome. This out come was so horrifying I can nor see it feeding a sequel that being Rosemary's baby. There were a million ways to end this movie besides an outright modern blood and guts and gore. Notice how Rosemary's baby had no gore and was just as impactful in every way.
