It could be so much better and started with promise. But the script gets worse as the series progresses and by the 8th episode, the lead character Nimue played by Langford, just resembles a hormonal teenager (too much like her character in 13) - in fact most of the cast seem to act this way - not in the least enticing to watch. Costumes were also a disappointment - Langford looks particularly uncomfortable in hers which doesn’t help with the viewing. There is very little chemistry between Arthur and Nimue and the romantic scenes are at best cliche at best and on some occasions just uncomfortable to watch.
Perhaps it is the cast or the writing, but nothing in the script is believable and it lacks depth. It relies on too much gore, perhaps trying to put itself in the league of GOT or TLK, but it falls far from it. The only captivating characters and storylines are the weeping monk (Daniel Sharman) and Squirrel (Billy Jenkins) and I look forward to the development of these characters in the next season(if there is one). The writers are perhaps confused as to which age group to pitch this series at - It fails to provide a grown up storyline but it is too violent to be otherwise.
