The story of the film is quite strange and very difficult to depict. Dev Anand accidentally kills his partner and flee away from town. But, a conman recognised him and forced to masquerade him as the sole heir of a wealthy family. There he met Suchitra Sen, supposedly his sibling, the sister. He fell in love with her, but the relationship of brother and sister comes in between. She often finds the behaviour of Dev Anand strange and finally discovers the truth that he is not his real brother
