The wife has read the books, I have not. Just finished the season finale. In all honesty, I find the show watchable in a daytime CW show kinda way. You can put it on and do something else like take care of chores or study. You can miss minutes at a time and not really miss anything at all, because the show offers so little in meaningful character development. Everything feels rushed, the SJW compulsion to caste POC within Hollywood shows clear as day. It wouldn’t matter if they actually cast actors with any skill at all. Instead I find myself wondering why characters are lacking in beauty and also trash at their jobs. Also, the lesbian couple in the show seems horridly placed, considering per the wife those two characters weren’t getting down like that.
At the end of the season I find myself not wanting to return for Season 2. For 10 million dollars an episode I feel Amazon was robbed. No character development that suspends disbelief, so-so CGI, little to no work on costumes or anything else to make me fall in love with the world. Little to no work on world building, little to no work on a plot that jumps all over the place, little to no thought into how to make meaningful interpersonal relationships. And a gross overtone of female power in a world that did it well with just slightly less finesse on paper. IMHO, save yourself some time and rewatch season two of the Witcher.
