Loved the novel and the show. Read the novel when it first came out, i was not disappointed one bit. Especially since the war genre is not my favorite. But that was the point. It wasn't another ww2 novel or story, it was the character's story. Literally the story behind their eyes and the light they saw in themselves. Although, yes, the show has many changes that were different from the novel, especially the ending, it still gave the magical importance and light that every reader enjoyed. 4 stars for the ending, not because it didn't deliver, but because the ending through the novel hit harder on my emotions when i first read it. But Netfix did an amazing adaptation.
