Paul Adrian McGowan was born on the Falls Road, Belfast, on 2nd February 1948. He currently lives in County Wexford, in the Republic of Ireland. His father, Paul Peter, was born in County Sligo, and his mother, Margaret (Peggy), in County Mayo, where he spent his summer holidays during his youth.
His appendix burst at the age of four, and he died on the operating table with Peritonitis. After three and a half minutes, the medical team brought him back to life, and the surgeon named him ‘The Miracle Child.’ He realizes that God has protected him from many disasters since that day.
He attended St. Malachy’s College and Shaftesbury Tutorial College and started work at seventeen with only two ‘O’ levels, French and English Literature. But the University of Life has been his paramount education.
He has worked in several industries, starting at 17 as a Chef in the Glenmachan Tower Hotel and then the Russell Court Hotel, both in Belfast. At 19, he formed his own soft drinks business, which eventually developed into one of the first home delivery logistics companies in the UK and Ireland. With depots in Antrim, Dublin, Scotland, York, and London. Due to hijackings, riots, and financial problems during the ‘Northern Ireland Troubles,’ the company was forced into bankruptcy. After a short stint as a van driver, he entered the Financial Services Industry, eventually becoming a bank manager.
At 74, he still works as a consultant in the Pensions & Investment section of the Financial Services Industry and is the Irish National Secretary of the FGB (Full Gospel Businessmen).
In his first book, ‘Deliver Us From Evil: Sing to the Lord and dance with the Devil,’ he describes how his life was destroyed by listening to the wrong voices, ultimately bringing disaster to his home, marriage, and life. While trying to commit suicide, an angel saves his life, and instead of the last judgment, he receives a life review, again averting disaster.
At the time of writing, he and some associates are opening a refuge for Domestic Violence and a charity for the suicidal, abused, addicted and distressed in Ireland. He is splitting the Royalties of his first book between that charity and FGB Ireland.
Paul is a Believer in Jesus Christ, whom, he states, is neither Catholic nor Protestant, nor any religious persuasion that divides humanity, but is God.
His motto is that you cannot change the world, but you can change someone’s world. Read the book and change your world.
