A major component of a "revenge film", I feel, is empathy for the wronged party. Who is this girl, so brutally beaten? A girlfriend? She looks old enough to be his daughter. And with a sort of fanatic zeal that seems a little troubling. Either way, she's just a plot device that plays little role in the rest of the film... I say that not bothering with the last half hour or so.
