Enthralling, but sceptical. References to meetings in the (Auschwitz) 'V. I. P. Block day room', being an 'Aryanised' jew by the camp heirarchy. Tortured by the Gestapo for being in the camp resistance, then released back into the prison population. Faking death then re inventing as another prisoner and surviving Auschwitz and Buchenwald for several years. I just find hard to believe.

I found the rose tinted accounts of these 'Gallant, benign and allegedly compassionate, sons of Nippon". At complete odds with history and accounts given by allied troops who fought the Japanese in Burma. Friendly treatment, soldierly camaraderie and medical treatment, given by the Japanese to captured pow's and the Burmese civilians is a complete fallacy if not at least an economical version of the truth. Excellent soldiers they were, humanitarian, they were not.
