I watched this movie with my cousin the other day and it was a complete waste of 3 hours! We could have been doing puja, playing outside, or doing some community service but we wasted that time watching this monstrosity of a movie. I will be listing points on why this movie sucks and how it could have been so much better.
1. Disrespectfully Portraying Sumati and Ashwathama
Bollywood has already made one of the worst movies, Adipurush. That movie had portrayed our gods like Rama, Sita, and Brahma very disrespectfully. Sumati is the prophesized mother of Kalki and they portrayed her very disrespectfully by putting her in a lab and torturing her with other pregnant women.
This movie also did a really bad job at showing Ashwathama. In this movie, we have one of the villains calling him names like old weak man. The reality of Ashwathama is that he is a partial avatar of Shiva. Shiva had taken this avatar to show us the consequences of Adharma and the Kaliyuga would be his redemption. They redeemed him into a very wise man but they made it so that the villain is hunting after him.
2. Lazy Writing
Let me ask you this question. Why is Interstellar and Uri: The Surgical Strike one of the most rewatchable movies ever? Now, I know that I shouldn't be comparing a Bollywood movie with a Hollywood movie but hear me out. Interstellar and Uri have proper writing and proper research done into them. The movie Uri was really accurate to what actually happen in 2016 and pays the proper respect that soldiers deserve.
This movie does not have the proper research/writing done and is very inaccurate to the scriptures. At the end of Kaliyuga, it is mentioned that people will be 2-3 ft tall, live lives of 10-20 years, and will be a world made of 95% Adharmis.
Shambhala was really inaccurate to what was mentioned in the scriptures. In the scriptures, it is mentioned that it's a place of peace, simplicity and a place where only pure souls can enter. Guess what happens at the climax, we have one of the villains, Bhairava, entering Shambala and the people over there don't have as simple lives. Not to mention the fact that there is only 1 Chiranjeevi in the entire movie and not scenes of the others.
It is very inaccurate to the scriptures and this is what I call lazy writing.
3. The Making of a 2nd Part
This is a continuation of the 2nd point. Why is there the need to make a second part when you can immediately put Kalki's birth into the movie and show us his life and how he will face off against Kali Purusha. Think about this, in a movie named after Vishnu's final avatar, why don't we see any scenes of him? The writers should have entirely changed the script to Kalki's birth happening at the 30th minute. I wouldn't have minded if it even happened at the halfway mark or the 2nd hour.
