I like all the actors. It's a good show and I look forward to it every week. I like the mix of ethnicities in the cast. I think Zaki's presence in this show is cool and gets people questioning their media-driven beliefs. They do touch sensitive subjects and I can see how that could be offensive but I tend to like it when writers give light to these subjects. It makes you think about your personal beliefs and can have an actual impact on your life somehow. I don't they are enough to make me stop watching, but I do have a couple "beefs" with it:
- Lacking in action or combat, shooting, or when OA takes a guy down, often it doesn't really show him taking him down, it just makes it look like he did. I like seeing expert shooting and actional disengagement of threats which are well executed, and this has happened just a few times in the show that were memorable.
- Lacking in character background/development. At the beginning of S3, we only know bits and pieces of each character including of their personality. Maybe this isn't their aim really, so I get it, but part of drawing an audience in (at least me!) is personalizing each character so you want to be with them on their journey. I'd love to know more about OA's military background, his undercover experience, his traumas/memories, etc., and how he deals with it. Same with Maggie and her late husband, her life apart from work, her struggles or strengths in being a strong female field agent; I know nothing about Scola's life except his brother died in 911; etc.
Overall it is a good show and I will likely keep watching; hopefully more depth is added to the mix and maybe a plot or storyline over more than one episode at a time.
