I was going to give this a 4 or 5 stars, but the drama...
The writers literally forgot people when it comes to relations
I see the linear thinking processes in the writing.
!Spoilers!
For example everyone in this show has a love triangle. Not everyone, but if you have more than 2 love triangles it gets to the point I'm just slapping myself.
How? Wasn't 1 enough? No, you need DRAMA. I get it, but damn does it take me out of the SPACE EXPLORATION.
Look, you have a wonderful topic for drama. That's SPACE. Focus on SPACE. Stop with the arbitrary relationships and triangles of love. It's way overboard. Like WAY overboard. To the point the drama itself suffers. Sure there's a group that LIKES these love triangles. But this drama made me realize, I don't like seeing the same premise over and over. You got a great SPACE genre. You have the most imaginable scenarios and you opt to focus on human relationships that are kind of gross in my opinion. Adults don't act so hastily and rash when it comes to relationships. It doesn't feel real when these situations are forced. What feels real is when there are problems in the ship. The problems with the people have been overly dramatized. They leave out so much in the process. Lu's husband was shown ONCE as being a traditionally bad father, but only for roughly 30 seconds to a minute. The whole situation with Lu and her choices left me baffled rather than enjoying 2 people in love being able to love each other.
Then there's ANOTHER love triangle featuring Captain and Ram. That one was more integrating than the rest, but since you already included this plot already, the weight of it losing it's grip. Seeing the same plot again, is quite tiresome.
AND THEN A 3RD LOVE TRIANGLE. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Now it's a love SQUARE! I can't believe it. The Caps husband and some side character? You included another one... I just don't even want to talk about it.
Honesty in a professional setting such as going to space and trying to be the first people on Mars, so much would have never happened. As I watch in 2023 that no way in hell would China and Russia ever help the USA. And the amount of pandering there is. If the USA is going to space, they're not asking anyone else for help unless it's allies. It's wild how much our perspective has changed in the past few years since 2020.
There are wildly inaccurate situations that occur such as when Ram is suffering from Mono and goes crazy, he tries to open the airlock. The acting was there. It was phenomenal. However when Ram goes for the airlock, the airlock moves. In space, I doubt that would ever happen as the pressures would be different therefore impossible to move a door. Also the door would be much bigger and more secure. However I overlooked this as production error.
I'll say focus on more space scenarios and less human interactions that are low brain. Acting is phenomenal. Premise is there. The parts where space exploration/ship is the topic at hand, then the story progresses and becomes its own thing. Less relationship, more ship please.
