I liked it. The sets and locations are pretty spectacular. The challenge is that there are a lot of disconnected parallel story lines and characters, and none of them at this point are fleshed out enough to be compelling. What it does do is provide a beautiful visual world with the promise of more in future episodes. I’ll definitely keep watching.
I’ve read the haters posts, and they seem to largely be Tolkien fans who either want it to hold strictly to his writing or live up to the quality of LOTR. So, they’re disappointed. But if one approaches the series without these expectations, I believe most fans of the genre will like it.
