Lorraine Mund

This book has been a favorite in my college Course, Studies in Children’s Literature. The plot and the character of Miranda provided a motivation for valuable discussions of the need for empathy for children who live lives of trauma. The students enjoyed the strong first person view which gave them insight into the problems of a girl who struggles to grasp reality in a school where she is literally an outcast. Reading assignments also produced some very effective papers.
