Brought bang up to date.....having seen 2 other live performances over the Decades. What John Legend lacked in acting skill,s he triumphed using his voice so wonderfully..Legend,s rendition of "Gethsemane" is well delivered but, I Still believe Steve Balsamo,s version is the best. As he for the first time, speaks to his Father, JC exposes his Anger, Fears & Doubts as to why he is doing what he has to do, Balsamo gives "Gethsemane" a depth I did,nt understand before...Brandon Victor Dixon,s "Judus" WAS the Star act/singer for me...your not supposed to be moved by "Judus" but I was...Weird. The Whole cast were wonderful....Stage settings stripped down to bare, graffitied walls & scaffolding, Alice Cooper, s casting as Herod....."drop the mic" moment.....Brilliant...It all leads to it,s well known ending and it really hits home the messege of JC,s Sacrifice. His Cross of scaffolding he is tied to, rises up on Invisible wires and appears just to float in mid air. The wall behind it opens, revealing an other cross of Heavenly light and as the final overture sounds it,s last tones, the Cross moves back, still in floating mode, disappearing into the Heaven's lighten fog. It packs it,s powerful punch. . . Sacrifice.
