It’s a “meh” movie. Probably it’s because of the spoilers or probably it’s because of how easy it is to point out the plot twist of the movie, or probably it’s because of the corny jokes (there are several good ones). However, I do like the character development and the overall vibe of the movie.

Gosh! I just rewatched this movie a few days ago and it’s truly a modern masterpiece when it comes to animation. I’ve probably watched this movie 8 times and it’s impossible for me to not cry. It’s also impossible for me to listen to the songs without getting goosebumps. This movie is just so colorful and beautiful, and this is coming from a girl who hates a lot of famous movies and is a movie critic for a school magazine. The production of this movie is just amazing. The plot, the details, the songs, are just phenomenal! My favorite part of the movie is when Moana almost gave up and then her ancestors helped her. I also love the message that this movie tries to convey, self discovery. Someone who is stuck in between two worlds, two worlds that hate each other. My fav line is, “and the call isn’t out there, it’s inside me”, that line speaks volumes.

I honestly like the movie so much. It has great comedy, it has cool action scenes, but this movie is far from perfect. There are so many unimportant scenes that could be removed and it still wouldn’t change the movie plot. Same can be said for the characters. Also, the plot twists are cheesy. Overall, this movie is great, but has several issues.

(There are spoilers here so beware) As of recently, i don’t exactly know why, I put very high expectations on the disney movies that were released this year, and all left me disappointed (lion king, maleficent, toy story 4). This movie is also on my disappointed list. Throughout the movie, the whole thing is just so monotonous. There is no “climax”, not like in the first movie when Anna visited the ice palace. I guess you could say that the climax is when Elsa “died”, but the climax buildup is very lacking. The plot is very readable, unlike the first movie. The songs are not as catchy as let it go. Also, when Olaf and Elsa died, it was too predictable that they were going to be alive again.
