I really enjoyed this movie. There’s a really long review on here which says it’s confusing that that ends are not tied up, but then precedes to mention a whole load of things that show they don’t actually understand what an ape or gorilla or satellite dish is, in which case, it’s no wonder they found the plot lacking holes.
The only plot hole is at the end that is clearly gearing up to a sequel.
We know they don’t know what zebras are because they were forbidden for going out of their little area for any generations. They were catching cavemen because they wanted May, they didn’t have a use for them and most likely just killed them or let them go once they had her. There’s always a “general” who has a boss above them, that’s a common theme in a lot of movies, especially when the “king” is the brains, not the brawn.
The chip is clearly for communication between other groups of survivors.
There were a lot of plot twists which I really enjoyed, and nods to Caesars era which was necessary to know how they ended up where they are now and why they aren’t at peace.
It was a long movie but felt short because so much happened and so many sad and happy moments along the way.
I cried right at the beginning and twice throughout as well as laughing and feeling genuinely moved.
Fabulous movie.
