Apart from the slightly creaky and debatable ending, I love everything about this film. The acting, script, photography, direction. For a film which is almost half a century old, the HD version Is flawless. Not a film to analyse too deeply, just to let wash over you and stay with you for days.

Condescending, cliche ridden, manipulative drivel.

Loved every minute. Compassion, empathy, love all poured out of the girl. At 81 I’m unfamiliar with Ms Pink’s oeuvre but am now a life long fan. Unmissable.

Very stylish, well directed utter drivel from start to finish. Life is too short to waste on nonsense like this.

I’d give this film five stars - one for every major plot cringe. It was like The Durrells, without the laughs. Why - how - films like this ever get made is a mystery. All that money, all that time expended resulting in utter tosh. The only decent actor was Valeria and that includes the usually brilliant Lindsay Duncan - oh, how the mighty have fallen. This is a film I would hate to encounter again on a long haul flight. Nightmare.
