An excellent and talented cast taking us through a compelling and very believable story of a family devastated by the revelation of a dark secret. However while I don't think every movie has to have a neat and tidy ending, it does actually have to have one! Leaving the story completely up in the air as 'The Daughter' does is so unsatisfactory as the viewer can't just imagine an ending - the final scene is just overwhelming and doesn't do justice to the script, the director, the cast and the viewer.
