" An ode to friendship "
I feel blessed to witness one of the finest of films ... A symphony of visual elegance , brilliant writing , exclusive music and above all ,heart touching drama...
The first 20 min of the film introduces the characters , their friendship and their individual struggles. And their trip to Kodaikanal. Well things take a hard turn when one of the friends Subash (Shreenath bhasi ) accidentally falls into a 900 foot cave. And then the horror starts!
While the film is mostly shot with natural lighting , the first sequence of the group's intro and some parts of the film used motivated lighting ...
The cave sequences were as realistic as it could be. Most of the cave scenes were pitch black, just a mere blue light giving all the horrors of a bottomless pit.
A truly immersive experience along with intense performances.
Well written characters , gripping story and captivating performances. The sound design and music play an important role for the film. I believe sushin shyam is the next big thing in the mallu industry. I have been following his work for a long time and for this specific project he went out of the box.Erie and experimental sounds inducing terror in audience and Synth soundscapes backing with haunting choir(latin like) chants passing chills throughout the movie.
And finally the use of the iconic guna's song kanmani / priyatama in the climax is what made it outstanding and memorable...
The climax stays a core memory of mine.Being an ardent fan of Raja sir and Kamal sir ihv been anticipating right from the word of gratitude at the beginning ... And there it goes! a high like no other! A must watch! Best thriller in recent times..
