Hilarious! I would classify this movie as comedy more than horror. Although it clearly tried to be scary, it was anything but. The acting was beyond terrible, along with the script. I’ve seen better writing and acting from YouTube skits. The sound effects, camera work, and special effects were equally bad. The only redeemable part of this movie, and the only reason I gave it 1 star instead of 0, is how hilariously bad it is. The ghosts? Zombies? Monsters? Whatever the hell they are supposed to be aren’t scary at all, and the jump scares get the actors far more than they got me. Barely 45 minutes into this movie I was dying of laughter. The film barely even explains the actual horrific events that occurred at The Preston School of Industry (the actual place this film is “based” on), and do the true story absolutely no justice. If you want something to laugh at with your friends then this film is great, other than that, don’t waste your time. Spend the 83 minute run time doing something more entertaining, such as watching paint dry. My favorite part was the ending credits, because I knew it was finally over. At least it was free, so the only thing I wasted was time. Scare Rating: 1/5 The only really “scary” part of this movie is why anyone ever thought it was a good idea to release it. Other than that the music and atmosphere are eerie, but not terrifying by any means. Overall Rating: 1/5 As I said if it weren’t for the unintentional comedic value, I would rate this film 0/5. Truly a terrible film.

An absolutely phenomenal psychological thriller. The suspense keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the entire film. Not sure what all of the negative reviews are for, I see many of them talking about how there is no action, but that is not at all the point of a suspense thriller. If you’re looking for overdone jump scares and gore look elsewhere, if you’re looking for a fresh piece of horror that scares purely based on the suspense and the atmosphere, this is the film for you. Based on a piece from the Twilight Zone, this film sets up as a couple who surprise the husbands deranged brother with a visit for the holidays. You immediately feel the awkwardness, and without knowing any information you know something is awry. The brother reveals he has trapped the devil in his cellar, which presumably alarms the couple. Some are confused as to why they would stay, but if your mentally deranged loved one clearly needed help and was in a terrible situation wouldn’t you at least consider staying to help out? The suspense builds slowly throughout the film as more is revealed about the situation and the brothers mental health, leading you to believe that he is truly sick, and has trapped an innocent person in his cellar. The ending reveals just enough to keep you wondering long after the film is finished. Truly a great suspense thriller, however the acting and writing could have been a bit better. Some plot holes with the characters decisions. Anyone who rates this film poorly was clearly looking for something else, or just don’t know what a suspense thriller is. Worth the watch if you appreciate slow methodical films, and have an IQ higher than a donkey. Scare Rating: 4/5 A rare score for me to give as I am desensitized to most horror, but I found the hairs standing up on the back of my neck throughout the film. Definitely makes you want to turn on some lights afterwards. Overall Rating: 4/5 Truly a great film in my opinion, but had room for improvement in the script, and had the budget been higher it could’ve been executed better.

Overall a decent psychological horror film, not really scary but there are some suspenseful moments. If you can watch it for free as I did then I’d say it’s worth it, but I wouldn’t spend any money on it. The story builds somewhat nicely, and when they get the air bnb they have rented you can immediately tell something is off, but you can’t tell what right away which is a plus in my opinion. More and more strange things start to occur throughout their stay, time seems to act in strange ways and doors and hallways shift/ lead where they shouldn’t. It all builds into a fairly suspenseful peak, but then crashes and burns. The ending feels rushed, and at points it’s hard to tell what’s even happening cause there really isn’t anything happening at all. A lot of Kevin and the girl playing his daughter running through the alternating halls and rooms with a couple bad jump scares. About 75% of the way through this movie I was hooked, the acting was great for what it was, the script could’ve have been better and more of the suspense could’ve been left up to imagination, but other than that an enjoyable first 3/4ths of the movie. If it weren’t for a terrible ending this would have been a great movie as the rest of the film sets up very well. At the very least the end makes you think about what the hell just happened, and there’s clearly a broader message about not being able to escape your past, but the ending really could’ve been executed better. Overall an interesting film with a bit of a disappointing end, but if you’re into psychological horror flicks it’s worth checking out.
