I usually love movies like this one but unfortunately for me this movie was a little corny. It is strange how the current American narrative of separatism and racial division made it the main point of this movie. Back in those days, towns were not separated by race,(people gathered for survival, not race) so it seems strange to me that a period piece movie would try to rewrite history in such a hateful way.
It is sad that such a promising movie and script would be altered to promote racism and division. (The new American way)
They key going forward is for people to stop looking backwards to try and interpret what was already done but instead look forward to what we can do for each other now.
With all that said…I love every actor in this movie. Some of the best out there and they did a great job, but the underlining narrative is just too much negative stereotypical hype for my taste.
