Used every tired-out cliche in the book, the definition of contrived. Laughingly somehow substituted someone's idea of middle eastern accents with what can only be described as something between part Russian and part Dracula via Bella Lugosi. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of anime and the artistry in this film is very good and the music is adequate. There seemed to be an argument as to whether the animals portrayed were to be either partly human or not human at all, I would have preferred it to have been not, as it's so old hat and somehow seemed a rather soft cheat for ramping up sympathy. This film definitely has its own particular beauty. My review is probably clouded by all the really fine Japanese anime I've seen over the years so I am somewhat biased but overall I feel that most are now past films that are so easily understood.I would recommend this film as it is beautiful to see.

Justin Long is always good and Anna Faris should have had a bigger role.

Where does one begin...I feel like we should all get together and send Guy Pierce some money...

Beautifully executed wonderfully drawn, I wasn't expecting to not have heard about this other great anime from Japan, I've only begun to watch this excellent film and it's so nice to come across such a hidden gem. I am so pleasantly surprised, I will, of course, search out any other works by this huge talent.

Dramatic and desperately good.

We like to think we live in a world where injustices that are spelled out to us can, should, and will be met and dealt with is a given, but each of us in a broad term and in a personal sense knows somehow instinctively that this simply isn't usually the case, ergo so much violence, confusion, etc. but then again as Hal might say "It can only be attributable to human error"

Terrible movie, ho hum, as in a complete waste of time.
