It seems like a lot of the bad reviews are dependent on the reviewer's experience in the KY/OH areas and how this family isn't an "accurate" depiction of such. This story is about ONE family. It's not about your sweet neighbor or the coal miner you knew with a150 IQ who was building spaceships in his garage at night. Take the story for what it is. I liked it. It wasn't phenomenal, but anyone who grew up in Appalachia knew plenty of families in similar situations, and I probably went to school with a lot more of them than I realized at the time.

This show is awful. I made it a half episode, but my heart gave up the moment they drove ATV's into the grocery store. No one does that. I can only imagine that most of the people who like it don't live in Appalachia, because I've lived in KY and WV my entire life and have never known if anyone living like the characters depicted there. "Justified" was a more accurate depiction of those areas and people of KY, so it wasn't as difficult to suspend reality for a bit. As for Outsiders, I won't even say it's insulting to the people who live here because the Farrell's are as fictional to us as they are to anyone else. If you don't know anything about KY and enjoy the show as a result of your (respectfully) ignorance, then I'm sorry it ended abruptly for you. You are the only reason I gave it two stars.
