If you take out 'adapted from an Agatha Christie book' and view the film as a detective story set in Venice then maybe just maybe the film could he passable. Although the settings were mostly dark and suffered from annoying loud music drowning out the actors voices. A common complaint for many recent films. The audio/music balance is wrong.
As far as the plot was concerned at times the story was lost amongst far too much atmosphere.
Poirot was mixed between any detective and an anti spiritualist. The character was lost in the confused plot. Would i recommend this film? No.
