Somebody’s gotta say it. This movie did not live up to the hype. My excitement and expectations were high after watching X and Pearl, which were really great movies. The emotional breakthroughs and the climactic moments in those first two movies were striking as well. However, this movie MaXXXine was subpar. The film started really good, but as it continues to the climax and towards the ending, I feel like the movie could have been done better. Mia Goth is an amazing actress and I love her, but her role here wasn’t memorable compared to the first two of the trilogy. The side female characters and even the setting could also have been utilized to its full potential. Also the repetitive use and say-it-with-me of “I will not accept a life I do not deserve” was really cringey for me. I also wish the antagonists and how they played their roles were thrilling and remarkable to the plot like in X.

Another fake reviewers posted before mine. Again, this is not for kids. It’s obvious some of the earlier reviews are fake because of the repetitive, alike postings of “watching this movie with kids & crying of tears of joy” 🙄. I read the same similar reviews from the Human Centipede First Sequence. To be honest, the first movie was a whole lot better. There is intense build-up and the plot is organized. You can also feel fear and anxiety watching the first one. It’s also already interesting & frightening since the beginning of the first sequence. The antagonist in the first movie is also really creepy & I like that the first film has a lot of dialogue. (yes, I’m emphasizing first a lot) This second movie, I even watched it with colour thinking it would improve my viewing experience, but I found the movie boring to be really honest. I think all the action starts in the last 20 minutes of the film. Even if that’s intended, there’s no intense build-up since the beginning of the film that kept me hooked or thrilled. Still, I wanna appreciate the efforts the actors’ and actresses’ have done in the film for enduring those positions & for the constant screaming & wailing. I still wanna commend the director & all the people behind this film because for sure, they made efforts for this. But I wish this second movie could have been done better or they could have just left the first film alone.

I think some of the reviews before me are fake and repetitive (copied & pasted posted by one person or a group) I’m a horror/thriller fan and this movie really creeped me out. There were disgust, pity, and hatred that I felt in the movie which serves it purpose. However, I don’t think this movie is good for kids as I saw from the seemingly fake reviews written. Well, this movie can still be watched on a family movie night, but parental guidance is advised. This movie also serves as a lesson for the viewers to have some life skills, have survival instincts, and be careful who you trust.
