Cheers! To the author, Roc, for her book, Rough Edges, a collection of poetry and contribution to the life and cultural experiences of not only black and brown people, but all people all humankind. The words are truly a celebration of people who struggle and conquer or overcome life challenges, marginalization and systemic isms. So poignant are the words, beautiful and raw at the same time. I found it fascinating how the author balances truth and light in sometimes shadowy situations or outcomes. This book will surely elicit a therapeutic or cathartic response of some kind: be it, empowerment, liberation, joy, sadness, tears, laughter, contemplation, a call to action, or somehow move the reader closer to a personal sense of knowing and enlightenment. This read has no boundaries. It is for everyone. On every page, Roc, speaks love, life and everything in between until we take “A Seat in the Sky” (my personal favorite).
