Parents, please read the rating, to avoid problems. Teenagers and up should be fine.
The film is a masterpiece. It's based on the original book, not the Disney film. It's primarily about the relationship between fathers and sons but is applicable all parent and child relationships, love should not be conditional is what I took away. No doubt it's influenced by Del Toro's relationship with his father. It's obviously a very personal film for him and the amount of tears people have had shows that people can relate and know the message to be true. Would recommend the film, and I think this film stands up with Pan's Labyrinth and the Shape of Water, I still need to watch the Devil's Backbone.
On a side note, I really appreciate the reviews coming from the Hindu community.
