Combat is repetitive, basic, and boring: Elements don't matter, combat potions don't matter, status ailments don't exist, minimal gear to equip
Main quests are repetitive: very mmo style, basically there to keep you busy. You go to town x, get favour from the local in charge get their pin, and move on to the next and do the same thing.
Story is long and drawn out: eg, you run up stairs for 20 mins, stopping on every floor for a mini cut scene. Eg, run through a castle but wait you have to kill the entire army as you go through which takes you an hour to do and it doesn't even matter. You literally do not have to level in this game, the skill points are basically useless beyond unlocking them, and the mobs drop useless crafting gear which you won't use because crafting is non-existent in this game. The overall story itself is interesting but the way it was executed in the game just made it so drawn out.
Navigation is super linear - think resident evil 5. The map makes you go 1 way only. No exploring.
Never thought I'd say this, but wayyyyy too many cutscenes: you play for a few mins then get a cut-scene, for the entire game.
Most of the side-quests are useless and boring to complete. Very mmo style, and the rewards are useless - except for learning chocobo riding, which you basically don't need because you don't go exploring in this game.
No fun mini-game like chocobo racing, card game, blitzball, etc
The graphics are so freaking good though 😍
Worst ff game I've played to date - Hopefully they learn from the poor reviews this game got and never do this format again. I finished this game but will never even look at it again. The novelty wore off about halfway through the game when I realised it was basically repeating itself over and over.
