If you read the series, you are sure to be disappointed. This movie gets the characters and the chain of events all wrong. It also skips a lot of details, and messes up the books. If you have read the series and have watched the Netflix miniseries, then you know how bad this movie is compared to the show.

I love the story of Mary Queen of Scots, but I am done with hollywood movies. When telling history, you are not supposed to be politically correct, you are supposed to tell the story as it is. The truth is there were not a lot of free black people or Hispanics in that era, especially in Elizabeth’s court and homosexual people were not tolerated by the Catholic Church . Our own opinions on what that time period should look like do not matter in history and should be left alone. I am going to stick to my indie films where the political correctness of Hollywood films do not take away from the historical accuracy.
