In the novel, Millet puts a group of kids through Bible-like situations that make you think about overconsumption ending the world as we know it. The allusions to the Bible are somewhat interesting, but so many events happen that it can get hard to remember the beginning of the book, and many of these events are not for the faint of heart. Most of the kids also do not seem very relatable or likable to me personally, but it might just be me and it does not detract from the story as it goes on and explains why the kids are like that.
If you are fine with some violence and mature content in your books as this one is an apocalypse story, then it can be interesting. It was kind of hard for me to read in some parts though from everything that happened in the book.
