Almost makes me want to cry..... Based on a truly iconic movie this series was bound to be up against it a bit but unlike many it started with such amazing foundations. Using so many original cast members is ALWAYS a great sign and the thoughts of a nostalgic series of magic, monsters, fantasy and heartwarming fun were assured.... well, until I watched the first episode 🤨 Every stage of the first 2 episodes (my current stage) have been played so forced with a tacky, rushed feeling that just makes it feel like an immediate cash grab idea. The overwhelming feeling that they are trying to turn my beloved movie into a modern teen drama is oozing out of every scene and with the ridiculously modern wardrobe (such a stupid thing to get wrong and some are so blatantly obvious it gets you angry) and insultingly obvious storyline it's left a very bitter taste.... All in all its unfortunately not a patch on the movie, and although seeing one of my favourite heroes come back to my screen is truly a joy I just can't warrant the effort it takes to try and ignore the constant slaps in the face.
