Gameloft is one of the worse gaming companies in my opinion. They have a spectacular game that I’ve put $200 and 420 hours into in the last year. In the end it is just a poorly run cash grab of a game. Also, customer service is attentive, but useless. Left me feeling like the issue that caused me to stop playing is me.
So I’ll start with the cash grab. I paid for the $80 pre release founder pack on switch. They make you use moonstones to purchase certain items and character specific updates. This lead me to having to pay about $50 for the walle update months ago. This also helped me buy items that I wanted. They have added a weekly picture competition which is fun, and you can win moonstones. End of the day though if I want the new character update and items I’d probably have to pay another $100-$150 for moonstones. Also, months after they went live with the now paid for game (was suppose to be free) they charged $40 for a big update.
So the poorly run game issues. To start until maybe a couple of months ago for every hour you’d play this game it would crash. They fixed that for the most part. Also, there are constant character glitches you will have every minute of playing the game. Sometimes they end up trapping you in a corner of your house, and you have to restart. Because I loved the game so much I looked past all these issues. However, recently they have had a huge issue with cloud saving. Before I log off I always save the game and wait to see it say “last saved now” then I wait a minute and log off. About a month ago it started not saving. I lost data 3 times that I know of. Meaning hours of game play down the drain. I dealt with it till the last time. The last time I had mined rare items to build forky and lost them.
Customer care couldn’t do anything on multiple conversations, and how they approached lost rare items for Forky lead to me retiring from the game. They tried sending a cloud save, and it did nothing. During the first contact I told them I was taking pictures to make sure I don’t lose anything, and they could care less. They said it would be escalated to the tech department. After a week of waiting I emailed them, and nothing. I asked if I could get the items I knew I lost and some moonstones for hours of lost time to keep me as a customer. They said no. Basically from conversations I was left feeling blamed for the issue, and the $200 spent in the year was meaningless.
In conclusion if you want an amazing game to play that you’re going to pay a lot for, deal with glitches, lose hours of hard work, and get no customer care this hot mess of a game is for you!!
